Sassafras Harbour Marina, Georgetown, Maryland
Another hot humid day; it was a pleasure to be outin the boat where we could create some air with the movement of the boat. Left Baltimore this morning, travelling out of the Patapsco River, into Chesapeake Bay toward the Sassafras River. Travelled past an area marked on the charts as Aberdeen Proving Ground. There were big high things in the water around the area, looked perhaps like lookouts. There were also two patrol boats between some of the lookout posts. We had read that this area is used by the military for practice with ordinance, so were quite happy to stay away. We couldn't see anything else, but could hear kabooms every few minutes. Don't know if it is connected, but we saw many dead fish floating in the water today, also saw lots of wood floating. Came on up the Sassafras River to Georgetown and the Sassafras Harbour Marina. As we came here, there are marinas all along the river int his area. Hard to know where one place ends and the next one starts. Nice place here, very quiet after being in a down town the past 2 stops. The lady here took Gloria and I to the grocery store for reprovisioning, then the 4 of us spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool. There are thunderstorm warnings for this area, but so far we haven't seen any. It should cool off somewhat overnight. Got together with Jim and Gloria for dinner, then walked around the area a bit, lots of marinas in the area, but we didn't see much else.
