Delaware City Marina, Delaware City, Delaware

An  historic building here in Delaware City; it used to be a hotel with living quarters for the owners attached, not sure if that accounts for the different shape of the building.
The marina here is great, provided breakfast for the boaters this morning - coffee, muffins, doughnuts and bagels. Weather forecast was for winds of 10-25 knots with gusts to 20 (same forecast as for yesterday, and we saw winds of 40 knots then) so we decided to stay here today. Delaware Bay is one of the areas of open water that we need to respect. Some boats decided to leave today given that they had a more favourable tide than we will have tomorrow. Will have to compare notes with them when we see them again.
An old lock from the original C&D canal. The canal had 6 locks, and they used mules to pull loads through the canal. When they re-did the canal several years ago, they straightened and widened it and took out all of the locks. Water now can run freely between the Chesapeake and the Delaware river.
Had a good day to do planning, quick trip to a wonderful grocery store thanks to Tim who owns the marina. Got together with Jim and Gloria for dinner. Warm day, but much less humidity than earlier in the week so quite pleasant.
