Tidewater Yacht Marina, Portsmouth, Virginia

Gloria and I got up early this morning to take the ferry across to Norfolk to meet with Audrey Stehle, a lady who is very knowledgeable about the Chesapeake. Audrey spent an hour with us going over good places to visit. We did get into the AGLC ship's store to get some books that we needed. Met Michael, Jennifer, Keenan and Daria (Muddy Waters) at the Rendezvous, they were also looking for some books and charts.
Spent the afternoon touring, visited the Maritime Museum over in Norfolk, closed on Monday. Visited the MacArthur Memorial, closed on Monday. Tried to go to a grocery store near the water taxi, but it has closed. Looked up a couple of things we wanted to visit in Portsmouth, both closed on Monday and Tuesday. We did see the outside of many places, and had a good walk around town. Norfolk has spent a lot of money revitalizing their waterfront and it is very nice. Unfortunately many stores are empty and we really didn't see many people out and about on the streets or in the beautiful parks. Here on the Portsmouth side there are a few more people on the streets, but many stores are also empty. This evening we went to the Commodore Theater. It is a grand old movie theater that has been renovated and made into a dinner theater. You are seated at a table, then you pick your dinner from a menu and phone in the order. Your dinner is brought to your table, and you watch the movie. We were under the impression that it would be an old movie, but it was 'The Conspirator', which we enjoyed very much. Different concept for a movie theater, and quite nice. Weather doesn't look great for tomorrow so we plan to stay here, perhaps we will see some of the things that were not open today.

A memorial to the confederate soldiers who fought for the south. Interesting that the monument is in the middle of the street, with parking then down the middle of the street behind the monument, as well as down both sides of the street

The Battleship Wisconsin on display in Norfolk. Woundn't want to face those guns
