Good day to get chores done, planned for our next few stops and got reservations made. We hope to be in Annapolis by the middle of the week, but it is Commissioning Week for West Point, the Blue Angels are putting on a show on Wednesday and Friday, and it is Memorial Day weekend next weekend, so things are pretty booked up. We have potential reservations at a couple of places, one boat each place, so we'll see as we get there. Went this afternoon to the Deltaville Marine Museum, lots of models of boats and a good overview of the history of the area. Stopped at a seafood store and bought some fresh salmon for dinner. Got together with Jim and Gloria and the couple from Bavarian Cream for dinner; the marina has barbques for boaters to use plus picnic tables so we had a nice dinner together over in the picnic area. Met some people who are boat hunting so that they can do the loop, enjoyed chatting with them and wish them luck.

the FD Crockett is a log deck "Buy Boat". Log deck means that the bottom of the boat was built out of several large logs, fashioned on the early canoes. "Buy" Boat is one that went out to collect oysters and clams from those harvesting them, then taking them to markets. In other seasons, they were used as the "transports of the sea"; they carried goods up and down the waterways. The boats are shallow draft and low to the water, so they could go almost anywhere in the shallow Chesapeake. |
We plan to leave here tomorrow, we are headed to Tangier Island.
